The problem with Evil Dead 2 was that there wasn't enough shotgun and chainsaw action. If you took the last half of Evil Dead 2 and mixed it with the first half of Army of Darkness, you'd have an excellent film.

WHAT!? People dissing EVIL DEAD! Ok, I realize that the Evil Dead Series is an aquired taste. And I will say that the Night Of The Living Dead Series is much more serious and compelling. But, if you want the most insane piece of cinema ever filmed go with EVIL DEAD 2: DEAD BY DAWN! The film is absolutely ridiculous but, it is aware of its own sillyness and that what makes the film so fun to watch. It's the only film you will ever see in which a persons hand is possessed and attacks them.(ok the film "Idle Hands" ripped this off so you will see it there too) But in idle hands will you see him cut off his own hand and fight it? Or better yet replace his hand with a chainsaw? No film reaches the pure hilarity and genious of Evil Dead 2. Evil Dead part one was ok, it had it's scary moments and was clever at times. Army Of Darkness was pure comedy and too toned down(still funny though good one-liners) But, EVIL DEAD 2 is best! Hail to the King! So I hope you were just refering to Evil Dead one. Please see Evil Dead 2 if you have not. Sorry for being such a Dead Head. But, it's my favorite film.

BTW, I beleive they used a motorcycle to film the final shot in The Evil Dead. This is a rumor that has not be confirmed but, I beleive it to be true. The Special Edition DVD notes this in the Audio Commentary by Bruce Campbell(the best actor ever).

read the evil dead compion book, its a good read. The Evil dead film may not be scary by todays standards but you have to look at the way it was made. 3 friends making a sort super 8 film called within the woods, then they got funding and made a 16mm feature. Credit given were credit is due. And it started them on the right track.

Guys guys guys. Everybody knows Dawn Of The Dead IS THE GREATEST zombie movie ever made. That is a well known FACT.

Richard Matherson would be turning in his grave (if hes dead)If he thought his legacy turned out to be Night Of The Living Dead.

Untill the day I Am Legend is made (well) We will have to make do with Dawn Of The Dead.

I take it you have not seen Peter Jacksons Braindead/Dead Alive then.

As for that last sht Im pretty sure its just a couple of guys running with the camera. There were people standing by allk the doors in the house pulling them as the camera movie through each room.

Richard Matheson is very much alive... and as far as I can remember... he approved Night of the Living Dead over the Omega Man... which he later said that it was rewritten so much, that it wasn't really based on his book anymore!

I am Legend is a great script. I read on Harry Knowles site that Bay promised to keep it dark and gritty like Protosevich's script.
He even said He wouldn't use his trademark revolving dolly shots either..lol!

Still, I wish someone else would do it,like David Fincher or Chris Cunningham.
